About

Where Memory Travels is a space for reflection—where journeys, memories, and everyday moments are transformed into stories.
This is not just a travel blog. It is a place to pause, to observe, and to find meaning in the experiences that shape our lives.

I am Dr. Shimelis Setegn—an educator, engineer, and lifelong learner. My professional work is rooted in water resources, environmental systems, and data, but my personal passion lies in observing the world and reflecting on the human experience.

Over the years, I have lived, worked, and traveled across different parts of the world. These experiences have shaped how I see people, places, and the connections between them.

I write to capture moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed—the quiet observations, the small conversations, and the feelings that linger long after a journey ends. Sometimes the stories are about family. Sometimes they are about travel. Sometimes they are about history, culture, or the unexpected lessons we encounter along the way. Each piece is an attempt to preserve memory and to understand it more deeply.

This site is an invitation to slow down, to reflect, and to see the world with a little more attention.
Thank you for being here.
